Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is the company’s latest addition to its smartphone lineup. The device was launched in China at a special event last month. Manu Jain, Group Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi India confirmed the launch of Mi Mix 2 for the Indian market on the same launch date. There was no specified date revealed by Xiaomi India VP, but today he officially announces that the phone will be launch in India on October 10th at an event in Delhi.
Its ample amount of time since Xiaomi launched a flagship smartphone in India. Last launch was Xiaomi Mi 5, which happened over one and half year back. Although several flagship smartphones namely Xiaomi Mi Mix, Mi Note 3, Xiaomi Mi 6 were launch during this period, but none of these were brought to Indian markets. Instead it launched many mid-range & budget handsets including Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, Redmi 4, Redmi 4A which became of the top players in the Indian market.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 – Full Specifications
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, the second-generation bezel-less smartphone by Xiaomi sports a 5.99-inch (2160 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 18:9 display with 1500:1 contrast ratio, DCI-P3 color gamut. Under the hood, there is a 2.45GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 64-bit 10nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 540 GPU. It has 6GB of RAM and up to 8GB of RAM for the special edition.
On the cameras front, there is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels, 4-axis optical image stabilisation, 5-piece lens, an f/2.0 aperture, as well as a facial recognition technology. On the front, there is a 5MP shooter with the same facial recognition function. It runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) with MIUI 9 on top and features dual SIM (nano + nano) support. The device comes in 64GB / 128GB / 256GB storage variants and packs with a 3400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB Type-C.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was priced in China at 3299 yuan (US$ 506 / Rs. 32,350 approx.) for the based 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version and goes up to 4699 yuan (US$ 721 / Rs. 46,060 approx.) for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage Special Edition model. It’s still unclear which of the above variant will be launched for the Indian market.
