Download and Install MIUI 8 on Xiaomi Mi Pad

Hello, Mi Pad 1 users! You will be happy to hear that the Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 8 update via OTA. Earlier the company rolled out MIUI 8 for most of its smartphones including the Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, etc. and now the Mi Pad 1 are the lucky ones to experience the latest ROM. Many of you should be able to progressively receive the update via over-the-air on your tablet. If you still haven’t received OTA update and wanted to experience the latest ROM right away, then here we have step by step guide on how to install MIUI 8 on Xiaomi Mi Pad.

Before starting the update process, make sure to charge the device to at least 80% and backup all your important data in order to restore if any data loss occurs. The update is still based on Android 4.4 KitKat. It doesn’t bring Marshmallow or Lollipop to your tablet.

How to Update Xiaomi Mi Pad to MIUI 8

Step 1: Download the MIUI 8 China Stable Recovery ROM for Mi Pad from the above download section to your PC.

Step 2: Copy the ROM zip file and paste it in the root folder (internal storage) of your device.

Step 3: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step 4: Go to the app drawer and launch the Updater app.

Step 5: Tap on ‘Choose update package’ and select the MIUI 8 ROM zip file which you have copied to device storage in step 2.

Step 6: Confirm! Now you will see that the device starts installing the updates. Wait for a while, as the process might take some time to finish.

Step 7: Once done with the installation process, reboot the device and start enjoying MIUI 8 on your Xiaomi Mi Pad.

You can verify the MIUI version from the path Settings > About Phone. It will be v8.1.2.0.KXFCNDI.

How to Flash Fastboot ROM:

1. Download Fastboot ROM on your PC from the above links.

2. Download and Install Mi Flash Tool on your PC.

3. Turn off your device and boot into Fastboot mode. To do so, press and hold Volume Down and Power buttons together.

4. Launch Mi Flash Tool and connect Mi Pad with PC.
