Xiaomi, as promised, started rolling out MIUI 7 updates to its smartphones and tablets. The Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Pad, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2 (4G), and Mi Note are the devices to get MIUI 7 global stable update. The update is currently rolling out via OTA (over-the-air), so the Updater application can be used to install the MIUI 7 OS.
Due to the server overloads, it might take certain time to be available for each and every Mi user. Apart from the OTA update, users can also install the MIUI 7 ROM though recovery or using Mi PC Suite. But in order to receive an OTA update, make sure to be on stable MIUI V5/MIUI 6 stable version on your device. If you’re in the MIUI China developer version or Global beta ROM, then you install the stable update from recovery only after wiping all user data.
As the file size is really bigger, it is highly advisable to use faster internet connectivity (say WiFi) and charge your device to a level of 70% or above. Though OTA update is safe from data loss, it is recommended to perform a backup of all the important stuff on your handset.
