Xiaomi Redmi 4A is the company’s one of the most successful smartphone in the affordable price segment. The device made its first appearance in March 2017 running on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Soon after, Xiaomi started rolling out Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 8 update to Redmi 4A. Now, finally all-new MIUI 9.2 update has been pushed to this budget-centric smartphone.
Redmi 4A is the only device launched in 2017 which was kept in third batch to get MIUI 9 update. Initially, the third batch of Mi & Redmi devices are supposed to get the Xiaomi’s latest lighting fast ROM update in December itself, but due to issues Company decided to skip MIUI 9.0 and started rolling out MIUI 9.2 directly.
The new update brings version MIUI 9.2.6.0.NCCMIEK which is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is about 1.3GB in size. The update also brings January 2018 security patch to the smartphone. However, it is important to note that this is a Nightly build, Xiaomi released Stable Nightly updates to random users to get feedback and if the feedback is positive the same update will be pushed as Stable to each and every users.
Coming to the update, brings a host of improvements and bug fixes over the previous MIUI 8 ROM. The update brings improved layout and readability. Some of the highlights of the MIUI 9.2 updates includes new Gallery app, fresh UI changes, Mi Video App, search for apps in the settings of the dual app, Mi Drop app, Mi Mover app, new app vault features, improved notification bar and more.
