Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the latest mid-range Android smartphone from Xiaomi comes with competitive features and price tags. The device is already favorite among the list of best Android smartphones under $200. The device includes all those specifications and features which in turn takes on the various flagship devices available in the market. The Redmi Note 3 includes a 5.5-inch Full HD display, MediaTek Helio X10 SoC, 3GB RAM, Android 5.1 Lollipop, 13MP camera, and a massive 4000mAh battery.
Xiaomi for the first time locked the bootloader of its smartphone. Xiaomi has clearly explained the main reasons behind locking the bootloader of Redmi Note 3 in its official forum.

What will change after locking the bootloader?
- Locking bootloader will not affect normal OTA updates
- ROOT will be disabled if the user has enabled it before. Enabling ROOT will need to unlock the bootloader
- The recovery mode is changed. Updating via Recovery will need to use Mi PC Suite
- Devices with a locked bootloader cannot update using Miflash. Users need to unlock bootloader if they want to flash Fastboot ROMs.
But in order to flash fastboot ROMs and custom ROMs, it is quite essential that your device bootloader is unlocked. So here we shared a simple guide to unlock bootloader of Redmi Note 3 using the Mi Flash Unlock Tool.
As the below process wipes the user data, it is important to take backup of all the data present on your device like contacts, app data, SMS, images, videos, call logs, etc. Also, enable USB Debugging and charge your handset to at least 80%. Download and install USB Drivers on PC.

How to Unlock Bootloader of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Android device
Step 1: Download Recovery zip file of Redmi Note 3 China developer ROM.
Step 2: You need to download the recovery file on your PC and then transfer the same file to device storage using a micro USB cable.
Step 3: Disconnect the device from PC and launch the Updater app. Tap the three-dot present on the upper right corner and select the ‘Choose update package’. Here you need to choose the zip file which earlier copied to phone storage in Step 2.
Step 4: Now you need to log into Mi Account which has the unlocking permission of your device.
Step 5: Power off your device. Now enter into bootloader mode by pressing the Power key and Volume key at the same time.
Step 6: Now download and install the Unlocking tool on your computer. Click HERE to download.
Step 7: Once install, log into the application with the same Mi account. Take a USB cable and connect Redmi Note 3 with a computer.
Step 8: Press ‘Unlock’. The unlocking process might take up to 10 seconds to complete.
Now you have to Unlock the bootloader of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. In order to lock the bootloader again, users need to flash official MIUI ROMs.

- Users might need unlocking permission from miui website.
- The unlocking tool for PC is currently available only in the Chinese version.
