Xiaomi last year launched its first laptop, the Mi Notebook Air to take on Apple’s MacBook Air. To make its laptop even more competitive, it has refreshed 13.3-inch model with some performance upgrades, which is now powered by 7th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors along with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU.
The new Mi Notebook Air laptop has been announced in three different variants. The top-end model of the laptop comes with a seventh generation Intel Core i7 processor while the other two variants includes a seventh-gen Intel Core i5 chipset. According to the company, the new upgraded chipsets will improves the performance up to 10 percent. These models also comes supported with 4G LTE modems.
For better security purposes, Xiaomi has introduced a fingerprint scanner on the top right corner of the trackpad which unlocks the device in just 2 seconds. It will also useful for making secure online payments.
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch packs with a 40Wh battery with fast charging and claims to deliver up to 9.5h of battery life. Other specifications are similar to its predecessor including the custom AKG-tuned dual speakers, Dolby audio, USB Type-C port, HDMI and a sleek 14.8mm metal body. Memory is at 8GB of DDR4 RAM for all three variants, which will be offered along with 128GB or 256GB PCIe SSD storage.
Price and Availability: The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3” comes in Silver color and is priced at 4999 Yuan (US$ 735 / Rs. 47380 approx.) for the Intel Core i5 + 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant while the Intel Core i5 + 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants costs 5499 Yuan (US$ 808 / Rs. 52130 approx.). It is already available to pre-order in China and starts shipping from June 18th. Company still have to announce pricing and availability of its top end model i.e. Intel Core i7 chipset with 8GB RAM and 256 storage variant.
