MIUI 7 which is the latest Xiaomi MIUI ROM has been officially unveiled in China. As expected the ROM brings new user interface, wonderful themes, face detection support, and a new application for roaming.
The new OS brings Kids Mode which lets the children access the smartphone and also lets them for limited use. With the new face recognition, users have the option to sort the pictures by just recognizing faces. It adds a Baby Photos app which lets you share with your family and relatives.
The OS brings new themes, wallpapers, and screensavers. Additionally there are certain themes specifically for males and females. Xiaomi introduces MI Roaming app in MIUI 7, which acts as a virtual SIM card while traveling abroad. So, no need to switch SIM’s, the app can be used for buying data packs through Xiaomi and used as a virtual SIM card. Another feature includes any video from Gallery that can be set as ringtone for selected contacts.
Xiaomi has released MIUI back in August 2010 and has more than 150 million users all over the world across 156 countries who claim the company at the launch event.
Eligible phones for MIUI 7 update
The latest MIUI ROM will be rolled out to Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 2A, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, Redmi, and Redmi Note smartphones starting from tomorrow via OTA (over-the-air). The update has been certified only for users in China while the company will announce the global MIUI 7 ROM in a special event scheduled in India on August 19.
