Xiaomi last week released MIUI 8.2 Global Stable update for various Mi & Redmi smartphones. It is a major update from the Chinese smartphone giant just before the announcement of MIUI 9 ROM. The rollout was confirmed via the MIUI page and the OTA update is already available for the eligible devices.
As of now, the MIUI 8.2 update is available only for Xiaomi Mi Max, Xiaomi Mi Max Prime, Xiaomi Mi 4i, Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G. Other Xiaomi phones namely Xiaomi Redmi 2, Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm), Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 MTK, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime, Xiaomi Mi 2, Xiaomi Mi 2S, Xiaomi Mi 5, Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, Xiaomi Redmi 3, Xiaomi Redmi 3 Prime, Xiaomi Redmi 3S, Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Qualcomm) will get the update starting from today i.e. February 20.
The update brings an improved layout for the quick settings in the Notification shade along with the addition of new system sounds and ringtones. It also brings built-in Antivirus app which is well capable to scan apps that are not installed from the Google Play Store. Apart from new features, it also brings several bug fixes like Notification shade issues fix, Wi-Fi page freezing issue fix, and more.
The MIUI 8.2 update is currently rolled out via OTA (over-the-air) and it takes a couple of days to appear on your device. Those who can’t wait for the update can manually download MIUI 8.2 Global Stable update from the following link. It includes both MIUI 8.2 Recovery and Fastboot ROM.
