Xiaomi, Chinese smartphone manufacturing company is moving into Brazil with its Redmi 2 smartphone pricing just BRL499. It is the company first big step outside Asia. It is also said that Foxconn International Holdings will manufacture the phones, thus becoming first Xiaomi handset to be produced outside of China.
“I strongly believe that Redmi 2 will be a game-changer in the Brazilian market, offering consumers a quality option never seen before in this price category. And this is only the start of our journey — as our business in Brazil grows, we will be bringing in a greater variety of exciting Mi products” stated Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi global operations.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 is actually a pretty nice smartphone. It features a 4.7-inch HD display, powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor, has dual SIM card slot, 8MP rear facing camera and a 2MP Selfie camera capable of taking videos of 720p. It runs on MIUI 6 and includes 2G/3G/4G connectivity options.
The smartphone goes on sale online starting from Tuesday, July 7th for 499 reais.
