Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi on Tuesday announced its latest flagship smartphone dubbed as Redmi K20 Pro at an event in Beijing, China. Although the Redmi smartphones are quite popular for its mid-range and budget smartphones, the company is trying to foray into the flagship segment after becoming an independent brand at the start of this year. The first series under Redmi brand – the Redmi Note 7 series was a great success to the company and the sale already crossed 10 million units all around the world which is a great milestone to reach.
Redmi K20 Pro is not alone to launch at the Beijing event. Redmi also announced the cheaper version with Snapdragon 730 and 6GB of RAM at the same launch event. Both the devices are announced for the Chinese market and soon expected to roll out to other global markets.
Redmi K20 Pro – Specifications
The dual-SIM (Nano) Redmi K20 Pro comes with a 6.39-inch (2340 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 19.5:9 aspect ratio AMOLED HDR display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Snapdragon 855 7nm processor coupled with Adreno 640 GPU. It features in-display fingerprint sensor along with a pop-out front-facing camera which gives the phone a near bezel-less display.
The device comes in four different variants with different configurations for RAM and storage – 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128, and 8GB/256GB. There is also microSD card slot for further memory expansion up to 512GB.
The Redmi K20 Pro runs on Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 OS. Coming to photography, the device sports triple rear camera setup – a 48MP primary sensor + 13MP ultra-wide sensor + 8MP telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom. The pop-up mechanism carries a 20-megapixels selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.
It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging technology and offers connectivity like Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS (L1 + L2 Dual Band) + GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C. The dimensions of the phone are 156.7×74.3×8.8mm and it weighs 191 grams.
Price and Availability:
The Redmi K20 Pro comes in Flame Red, Glacier Blue, and Carbon Fiber Black colors. The price starts at starts at CNY 2,499 (~$361 / Rs. 25,200) for the 6GB/64GB variant, CNY 2,599 (~$375 or Rs. 26,220) for 6GB/128GB, CNY 2,799 (~$405 or Rs. 28,230) for 8GB/128GB, and CNY 2,999 (~$435 or Rs. 30,245) for the 8GB/256GB version. It is currently limited to China and will go on sale starting from 1st June.
