As scheduled, a special Xiaomi event has been kicked-off in China and the company officially announces the MIUI 7 along with Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes in two different variant- one with 3G connectivity and another with 4G support.
As we all know, Redmi Note 2 is the successor of last year Redmi Note 4G, so in this post we are comparing both these handset to see what changes does the Xiaomi made over its predecessor.
Display and Processor:
Both the smartphones has similar 5.5-inch display but the Redmi Note 2 4G has 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD) resolution compared to Redmi Note 4G 720 x 1280 pixels (HD). So the Full HD display users will have better viewing experience compared to HD users.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 2 has an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor (2GHz quad-core Cortex A53 + 2GHz quad-core Cortex A53) coupled with 2GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 4G packs with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocking at 1.6GHz.
Software and Storage:
The Redmi Note 2 runs on latest MIUI 7 ROM on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS while Redmi Note 4G runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 5 on top out-of-the-box. The Redmi Note 2 has 16GB of internal storage without microSD card support and includes dual SIM support. While the Redmi Note 4G has 8GB of onboard memory with an option to up to 64GB with microSD card.
Cameras and Connectivity:
Both the handset have similar 13MP rear camera with LED Flash and a 5MP front facing camera for Selfies and cameras. The handsets share the same connectivity features like Bluetooth, 4G, 3G, GPS and WIFI.
