Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 users starts receiving Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 9.5.6.0.OEIMIFA Global Stable update via OTA. The device was already in the list to get Android Oreo update in Q2 2018 and today the company’s starts rolling over the air. This is really great stuff to see from Xiaomi as it’s always pointed for not rolling out Android updates.
The update brings MIUI 9.5.6.0 (OEIMIFA) version to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It also brings March 2018 security patch.
As of now, the update is pushed to Redmi Note 5 users in India. Xiaomi launched the same device as Redmi 5 Plus in other global markets. So, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus users can also expect Android 8.1 Oreo in the coming days.
If you’re Redmi Note 5 user, then go to Settings > Additional Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Update > Confirm to download. Users can also take help of pre-installed ‘Updater’ app to check for latest software updates. If an update is available, it will start downloading to your device. It is advisable that you download updates when you are connected to a wireless network because the update can be really large.
