Xiaomi on Thursday announced its first smartphone dubbed as “Redmi Note 7” under its new ‘Redmi’ sub-brand at an event in China. Last week, this Chinese smartphone giant already made official that ‘Redmi’ will be an independent brand, like Realme of Oppo. As per announcement, Redmi has announced its first device called Redmi Note 7 featuring a 48-megapixels camera, a waterdrop-shaped notch, and a 4,000mAh battery.
Redmi Note 7 Price, Availability
The Redmi Note 7 comes in Black, Blue and Purple colors, is priced at 999 yuan (US$ 147 / ₹ 10,390 approx.) for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs 1199 yuan (US$ 176 / ₹ 12,460 approx.) and the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs 1399 yuan (US$ 205 / ₹ 14,540 approx.). It is already available for pre-order in China and goes on sale from January 15th. The company is providing 18 months warranty instead of regular 12 months. It is expected that the device will be soon launch to various other global countries including India.

Coming to design, the Redmi Note 7 looks a lot like the Mi Play and some might even argue that it shares its design with a bunch of smartphones from Huawei’s sub-brand Honor. It sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) LTPS display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 450 nits brightness, 84 percent NTSC colout gamut, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and 2.5D curved glass protection. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 OS.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 7 is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with up to 4GB/ 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Camera department includes a 48MP + 5MP AI-enabled dual camera setup with pixel size of 1.6 microns and an f/1.8 aperture. There is a 13MP selfie camera under the dew drop notch.
The Redmi Note 7 comes with Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD) support and features a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The connectivity options includes Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 /5GHz) Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C. The smartphone measures at 159.21×75.21×8.1mm, and weighs 186 grams. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support offering up to 251 hours of standby time, 23 hours of talk time, 13 hours of video playback, and 7 hours of gaming.
