Xiaomi Mi4i is the budget Android device launched by Chinese smartphone manufactures back in April 2015. The device packs with high-end specs and is available for Rs. 12999 through Flipkart exclusive flash sale. With thickness of just 7.8mm adds beauty to the smart device. It has dual SIM support (LTE + LTE) with dual Standby and runs on Android v5.0.2 Lollipop with MIUI 6 on top. Recently the company rolled out MIUI 8 update based on the same Android Lollipop firmware.
In this guide, we shared simple tutorial on how to root Xiaomi Mi4i on MIUI 8 Android Lollipop. With root access on your device, one can install custom firmware or able to remove unwanted system apps which occupy larger space on your device.

Before starting the below rooting procedure make sure to take complete backup of all important data present on your smartphone. You can use third party Android apps to perform the backup process. Also ensure that the battery life is more than 70% to complete the process.
Install Xiaomi Mi4i USB Drivers on your PC and enable USB Debugging from Settings.
Root Xiaomi Mi4i:
Step #1: Download Xiaomi Mi4i Rooting Kit and extract the package and save the contents to a new folder in your PC.
Step #2: Take Standard USB cable and connect the device to PC. Having USB Drivers installed on your PC, the device will be successfully recognised.
Step #3: Now head through the folder where you have extracted the Rooting Package and then tap on ‘rec’ file.
Step #4: Now a new command window will open, enter “1” and confirm by tapping enter key on your keyboard. Now the device will ask for “USB Debugging”. Tap ‘Yes’ on your device to continue.
Step #5: Now the smartphone will reboot in Fastboot mode. This process will root your device, so be patient and wait till the smartphone reboots in Normal mode.
Step #6: A message “Root” will be seen in the command window stating that the smartphone has been successfully rooted.
