Xiaomi-funded Black Shark on Friday launched its first gaming smartphone dubbed as Xiaomi Black Shark in China. The device comes with several gaming-centric features, including a liquid cooling system.

The Black Shark gaming smartphone comes in two storage variants – 6GB RAM with 64GB storage priced at 2999 Yuan (US$ 477 / Rs. 31,160 approx.) and the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs 3499 Yuan (US$ 557 / Rs. 36,375 approx.). The smartphone is available to order in China starting from today.

The Xiaomi Black Shark sports a 6-inch display with full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and up to 550 nits brightness. The device is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset with Adreno 630 GPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of storage. For those interested in benchmark scores, Xiaomi reveals that the device scores 2,79,464 on AnTuTu benchmark test.
On the camera department, there is a dual 12MP + 20MP rear-camera setup with f/1.75 aperture lenses and dual-tone LED flash. The camera also features phase-detection autofocus, 4K capture, HDR, and Portrait Mode. On the front, there is a 20MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens.
At the launch event, Xiaomi also announced Controller dock that can be attached to the side of the phone. It weighs just 40 grams and has a joystick and a trigger button. It uses Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and works on all smartphones running Android 4.4 or above. The gamepad has a 150mAh battery support which lasts up to 30 hours on a single charge. Users need to purchase this Controller dock separately which costs 179 Yuan (US$ 29 / Rs. 1,860 approx.).
For better gaming experience, there is also a dedicated image processing chip from Pixelworks. It offers intelligent motion compensation technology, image enhancement, dark scene detail processing, for smoother video quality when gaming. It has ‘X-style’ unique antenna design for better signals irrespective of holding the device in any direction.
Another cool feature of Xiaomi Black Shark smartphone is the presence of an integrated liquid cooling system. This prevents overheating during long gaming sessions, and houses a dedicated “Shark key” (presumably that’s the green button on the edge of the device) that can be pressed to enter a high-performance gaming mode.
For security, there’s a fingerprint sensor, and the device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual-band, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, and USB Type-C port.
The device has Dual SIM support, measures 161.6 x 75.4 x 5.1mm and weighs 190g. There is a glowing logo on the back of the phone. It comes in Polar Night and Sky Gray color options.
