Xiaomi today introduced new payment option, the Google Tez to its ecommerce platforms in India. Tez is the Google’s payment app based on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) for India. With introduction of this payment option, users can make cashless transactions on Mi shopping platforms including Mi.com and Mi Store app. It means users can directly pay from their bank accounts online for any purchase that they make. This will be a good contribution from Xiaomi to the government’s Digital India initiative.
Xiaomi is currently running year-end sale promotion on its ecommerce website & app, and the new payments option lets you order the products seamlessly. Users just need to select UPI payment option to choose Tez. Thereafter, enter the UPI ID and confirm the payment. Users can find UPI ID from their Google Tez profile.
According to Xiaomi, the Mi.com website has over 21 million unique visitors in one month and over 1 million daily active users. On the other hand, the Mi Store app has more than 20 million apps installs and 6 million organic downloads on Play Store.
Commenting on the new payment option, Raghu Reddy, Head – Online Sales, Xiaomi India said:
Our vision is to bring innovation to everyone and our integration with Tez is another step forward in this direction. Xiaomi is currently the number one smartphone brand with a dominant online smartphone market share of 50.8%, of which a significant portion is attributed to Mi.com. With this new payment option, we hope to provide an even better purchasing experience that is truly cashless.
