Xiaomi unveils Mi 5 smartphone: Full specifications, features, price, availability details

Xiaomi has officially announced Mi 5, its latest flagship smartphone at a special event being held in China. The same announcement will be made in MWC 2016 by Hugo Barra, Xiaomi International VP. It is the first time Xiaomi is showcasing its smartphone in Mobile World Congress.

After a lots of leaks and rumors, finally we have a confirmed specifications and features of Xiaomi Mi 5. Read on the following-

Talking about the display, the Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with curved glass, 95% of the NTSC gamut and 600 nits brightness. On the hardware front, it is powered with all new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 graphics. It comes with 32GB/64GB/128GB storage variants and has 3GB/4GB RAM for better multi-tasking feature.

Considering the cameras, the Mi 5 comes with a 16-megapixels rear shooter with key features like dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX298 sensor, PDAF, 4-axis OIS and 4K video recording. On the front above the display there is a 4-megapixels front facing camera for video calling and selfie purposes.

The smartphone comes with 3D glass body with strong glass on the back, is 7.25mm thick and weighs just 129 grams. Apart from fingerprint sensor it also comes with infrared sensor and has dual SIM support. The software includes MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Like various flagship smartphones, the Mi 5 has USB Type-C port and packs a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

Price and Availability: The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes in three different color versions – Black, White, Gold and Rose colors. It is priced at 1999 Yuan (US$ 306 / Rs. 20,969 approx.) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant, 2299 Yuan ($352 / Rs. 24,135 approx.) for 3GB RAM + 64GB storage version and 2699 Yuan (US$ 413 / Rs. 28,312 approx.) for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. It will be available to purchase starting from March 1^st in China. No details on global availability.

In addition, Xiaomi also launched Mi 4S at the same event in China. The Mi 4S is categorized under mid-range segment featuring 5-inch FHD display, 13MP camera, 3GB RAM, Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 SoC, Android Marshmallow, and 3260mAh battery.
