After several leaks and rumours, Xiaomi today announced its latest high-end smartphone, the Mi 5S at an event in China. It is the successor of Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship which was announced earlier this year. It is announced with another high-end smartphone dubbed as Mi 5S Plus, which features 5.7-inch display, Snapdragon 821 SoC and dual camera setup.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S sports a 5.15-inch Full-HD display with 600-nits brightness, powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 SoC along with 3/4GB RAM and Adreno 530 GPU under the hood. The 3 GB RAM variant comes with 64 GB of internal storage whereas the 4 GB RAM variant comes with 128 GB of internal storage. The device equips with a ultrasonic fingerprint scanner which is based on Qualcomm’s Sense ID technology.
On the cameras front, there is a 12-megapixels rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX378 ½.3-inch sensor, phase-detection auto focus (PDAF), 4K video recording and a 4MP front facing camera with pixel size of 2 microns. The device measures just 8.25mm and has full metal unibody design. The various connectivity options included within the device are 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Typc-C port and has 3200mAh battery on the back with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 feature.
Price and Availability: The Xiaomi Mi 5S comes in Dark gray and Golden colors with glossy brushed metal finish and the Silver and Rose gold colors with frosted matte finish and is priced at 1999 yuan (US$ 299/ Rs. 19,920 approx.) for the 3GB RAM with 64GB variant and the 4GB RAM with 128GB variant costs 2299 yuan (US$ 344 / Rs. 22,910 approx.). The device will go on sale along with Mi 5S Plus from September 29 in China. Stay tuned for global announcement and details.
