Xiaomi on Wednesday announced its latest mid-range smartphone dubbed as “Xiaomi Mi 5X” at an event in China where the MIUI 9 is also launching. There were several leaks and rumors in the past few weeks and today, the company has made the device official. The Xiaomi Mi 5X includes some top notch specifications and features for a price tag of just 1499 Yuan which is really impressive.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X has a unibody metal design with rounded edges, has anti-fingerprint coating offering a smooth finish. It sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD 2.5D curved glass LTPS display.

Coming to the processor, the device is powered by a 2GHz Octa—Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 14nm processor coupled with 650MHz Adreno 506 GPU. It seems Xiaomi is in love with this Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. On the storage front, it has 64GB of internal memory which can be further expandable using a microSD card.

It features the same dual camera setup as on the Xiaomi Mi 6 which makes it one of the best cameras phones available in the market of such pricing. There are two 12MP sensors at the back, one for capturing standard RGB shots and another includes telephoto lens offering 2x zoom. There is also Portrait mode which lets you blur the background in the images.

As said, the Mi 5X runs on new Nougat-based MIUI 9 which brings several cool features compared to older MIUI 8 ROM. It also becomes one of the first Xiaomi phone to come pre-installed with MIUI 9. To power the device, it includes a 3080mAh battery which is well sufficient to provide backup for an entire day. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Price and Availability:

The Xiaomi Mi 5X comes in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors, and is priced at 1499 Yuan (US$ 222 / Rs. 14284 approx.). It will be available to purchase in China starting from August 1st. There is no details available regarding the launch of Mi 5X in India.
