Xiaomi on Wednesday announced the Mi 6X, its latest mid-range smartphone at an event in China. The device follows the trend of dual rear cameras and the manufacturers claims it will outperform flagship devices like Oppo R15 and Apple iPhone X.
The Mi 6X is expected to be unveiled as Mi A2 in the Indian market pretty soon as the Mi A1 is already out of stock in the country. With Xiao AI feature pre-installed, it becomes second Xiaomi smartphone to equip with.
Xiaomi Mi 6X Specifications:
The latest Mi 6X smartphone has a 5.99-inch (2160 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, there is an Octa Core Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. For instance, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC which is a lower-end variant of the Snapdragon 660.
There are three configurations of the phone: 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage, 6GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage. A microSD card slot is present as well.
Like its predecessor Mi 5X/Mi A1, the highlights of the smartphone are the cameras. On the front, there is a 20MP camera using SONY IMX376 sensor with soft LED flash. On the rear side, there is a 12MP camera with LED flash, f/1.75 aperture, Sony IMX486 sensor, 1.25um pixel size along with a 20MP shooter with Sony IMX376 sensor and f/1.75 aperture.
The 20MP sensor on both front and back uses pixel binning technology, combining the information from four pixels to create one large 2.0µm pixel. “This greatly improves the sensor’s light sensitivity, enabling users to capture clearer and brighter images, as well as better videos, in low-light conditions,” says Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X has dual SIM support and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with company’s MIUI 9.5 on top. It also comes supported with Project Treble for latest Android updates. It also features a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel for better security purposes.
The connectivity options of the device includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual 4G VoLTE, GPS and USB Type-C. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, which makes it first Xiaomi handset not to feature a headphone jack. It measures 158.7 x 75.4 x 7.3mm, weighs 168g and is powered by a 3010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. According to the company, the device can be charged from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes with 18W fast charger.
