With the above confirmation, it’s clear that Xiaomi has no plans of launching the Mi 7, the successor of last year Mi 6 – instead the Chinese smartphone giant appears to be skipping an iteration by launching the Mi 8 to celebrate its eight anniversary.
According to rumored specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 8 could feature a 6.01-inch OLED display with a notch and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Apart from this, the device is also rumored to feature under-display fingerprint scanner, and face unlocking system that won’t be relying on the front-facing camera, but will have a separate sensor just similar to that of Apple’s iPhone X.
The reports also claims that the device will be announced in two versions with different price tags – a 6GB RAM with 64GB storage for CNY 2,799 and a high-end version with 8GB RAM with 128GB storage for CNY 3,199.
Alongside the Mi 8 flagship, the Xiaomi could also launch its latest version of fitness band i.e. Mi Band 3 and several other accessories. Stay tuned as we’ll update with each & every details about the upcoming flagship once it goes official next Thursday.
