Xiaomi on Thursday launched the Mi Max 2, the successor of last year Mi Max at an event in China. Like its predecessor, the big highlights of the phablet is its 6.44-inch Full HD display and massive battery. Apart from that, there is also great change in terms of design and also features stereo speakers compared to single speaker on the original Mi Max. The price of Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has not been confirmed, but the phone has launched in two variants in China.
The Mi Max 2 with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version is priced at 1699 Yuan (US$ 247 / Rs. 15949 approx.) while the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage version carries a price tag of 199 Yuan (US$ 290 / Rs. 18770 approx). It will go on sale in China from June 1st.
Coming to the specifications and features, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a 6.44-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved glass display and sports a full metal unibody design with rounded edges and is just 7.6mm thick. It has dual stereo speakers, one embedded into the earpiece and other on the bottom. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel for better security purposes.
Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor with 14nm FinFET technology. It is the same processor the Indian Redmi Note 4 handsets are powered with. For taking pictures, it sports a 12-megapixels rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, Sony IMX386 sensor, and 1.25um pixel size, there is a 5MP front camera for taking selfies.
Like other Xiaomi models, it also runs on MIUI 8 based on Android and has hybrid dual-SIM (micro + nano/microSD) support. The connectivity options includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. On the back, there is a huge 5300mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging that lets you charge the phone up to 68% in one hour. It provides up to 18 hours of video playback or 57 hours of talk time on a single charge.
Xiaomi still doesn’t confirmed whether the Mi Max 2 will make its way to India or not. To remind you, the Mi Max was launched in India last year for Rs. 14,999. So, it is expected to see the company soon announcing its successor in India.
