Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is already a much anticipated flagship smartphone for this year. Earlier Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO already confirmed that the company has started working on the successor of last year’s Mi Mix. Today a new report has emerged which reveals that the smartphone will be announced somewhere in the second half of the year.
This news of announcement comes straight from the company CEO Lei Jun itself through a Weibo post. He also included that the Mi Mix 2 will be designed by Philippe Struck who also designed the first generation Mi Mix smartphone. The reports also adds that the successor will feature 93% screen to body ratio compared to Mi Mix 91.3% screen to body ratio. It is also expected to feature a curved AMOLED display instead of LCD display on the Mi Mix and will include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. Apart from Xiaomi, Apple and Vivo are the other smartphone vendor rumored to feature under display fingerprint sensor.
Other rumored specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage, 19MP rear camera, 16MP selfie camera, and a 4,500mAh battery support. On the software front, the Mi Mix 2 phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based on its own custom build MIUI ROM.
Coming to the release date, the Mi Mix was introduced in November last year in China, so we expect the same time frame for the announcement of its successor.
