Xiaomi has made today’s event grand by launching more than one product. Apart from announcing Redmi Pro, the Chinese giant has surprised most of its fans by launching its first-even laptop line-up, the Mi Notebook Air. It runs on Windows 10, features a slim body design and comes in two sizes – the 13.3-inch (top model) and 12.5-inch (portable).
The 13.3-inch high-end model is just 14.8mm thick, weighs 1.28kg and is powered with an Intel Core i5-6200U “Skylake-U” processor (dual core @2.3GHz, turbo @2.7GHz) coupled with NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU for graphics purposes. On the storage front, there is 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB of SSD via PCIe and one free SATA slot for expansion. To provide better backup, there is a 40Wh battery which provides up to 9.5 hours of usage and it has USB-C charger support which can charge the laptop from zero to 50 percent under half an hour. It also includes a 1MP HD webcam, digital array microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, Realtek ALC255, AKG Customised dual 2W speakers and Dolby audio.
The smaller model with 12.5-inch is even compact with just 12.9mm thick and weighs 1.07kg. It uses an Intel Core-M processor, have only 128GB SSD, 4GB of RAM and there is no dedicated GPU. Keeping all that downgraded specs apart, the 12.5-inch has 37Wh battery providing 11.5 hours of backup time which is 2 hours longer than the 13.3-inch model.
Price and Availability: The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air comes in Gold and Silver colors and is priced at 3499 Yuan (US$ 524 / Rs. 35,260 approx.) for the 12.5-inch version while the 13.3-inch version costs 4999 Yuan (US$ 749 / Rs. 50,355 approx.). Both the versions will go on sale first in China from August 2nd. No details revealed regarding the launch in India and other International market.
