In this Android era, it’s highly impossible to find a flagship smartphone with display size measuring below 5-inch. This year the Japanese company had launched the Xperia X Compact but it turned out to be a mid-ranger rather than a flagship device. But now it seems the wait is finally over as Xiaomi is working on a compact flagship smartphone.
Reports from China suggests that Xiaomi will soon launch a new compact device dubbed as Mi S with top-of-the-line specifications and features. It will be the smaller version of Mi 5S that was announced recently and packs with almost similar hardware.
The Mi S said to feature a 4.6-inch FHD display with 600-nit brightness and 2.5D curved glass on top. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 821 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. On the back, there is a 12-megapixels shooter with Sony’s IMX378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, dual LED flash and 4K video capture.
The Mi S is also expected to include a 2,600mAh battery on the back with support for Quick Charging 3.0, and adds various connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. It measures 128.3 x 64.2 x 8.2mm and weighs 138g.
It will also have a fingerprint scanner on the front, but it is not clear whether Xiaomi will include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor present on the Mi 5S.
No details about pricing have been surfaced, nor a release date. But if this device turns into reality, it will be one of the best compact smartphones till date. Till then we can take this leaks as just a pinch of salt.
