Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is the latest device launched by the Chinese smartphone giant in December 2017. It was announced alongside the Redmi 5 and is its smaller variant. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus flaunts a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) 18:9 display with a 403ppi pixel density and an 84 percent NTSC colour gamut. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at up 2GHz and has 3GB/4GB RAM options. The Redmi 5 Plus runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1.2 Nougat. As the device launched just a month ago, we could expect Xiaomi rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo for this handset.
The device comes with two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB with an microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 128GB. On the camera department, there is a 12MP shooter on the rear side with a 1.25-micron pixel sensor, an f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and flash, while it also sport a 5MP front camera with a soft-light selfie flash module. The company is also touting the inclusion of its Beautify 3.0 app, for improved portraits. On the back, there is a fingerprint scanner for better security purposes.
Similar to Redmi 4, the Redmi 5 Plus also packs with a massive 4000mAh battery providing backup for an entire day on heavy usage. It mesures 158.5 x 75.5 x 8.1mm and weighs 180 grams.
