Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, the next mid-range smartphone could be the company’s first device to run on MIUI 9 (based on Android OS) out of the box. MIUI 9 is the much awaited update from Xiaomi which could bring lots of new features and performance boost to the current models. Some of the leaked features of MIUI 9 are Multi-Window support, Quick-reply from notifications, Project Svelte, Call screening blocking feature and more. Apart from the latest MIUI ROM, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is also rumored to feature Qualcomm’s latest chipset i.e. Snapdragon 630.

Like its previous generation Redmi Note series models, the Redmi Note 5 could stick to its favorite 5.5-inches 1080p display with increase in sunlight visibility. The device is also rumored to feature fingerprint scanner on the front above the physical home button unlike the Redmi Note 4 which included on the rear panel.

Under the hood, it might include Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chipset clocking at the rate of 2.3GHz, Adreno 508 GPU which delivers up to 25% better performance compared to Snapdragon 626’s Adreno 506. Also, flagship bearing Snapdragon 630 includes Quick Charge 4.0, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C 3.1 support.

Considering the camera department, Xiaomi has a great task to ensure Redmi Note 5 camera is better than the Redmi Note 4X. It could feature a 13-megapixels f/2.0 Sony camera on the front which will surely please selfie lovers. On the rear, we could see a 16-megapixels Sony Exmor f/2.0 sensor with 4K video recording and better low-light performance.

To give a slim look to the device, Xiaomi might include a 3790mAh battery which is slightly smaller than the Redmi Note 4X 4100mAh battery. It runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat firmware.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Price, Release Date

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 could be release at the end of July 2017 in three different variants – 3GB + 32GB storage, 4GB + 32GB storage, and 4GB + 64GB storage. Still there is no leaks regarding the price, but it is expected to price $180 for the base variant.
